The Computer Science Minor offers students in all majors the opportunity to develop skills in writing algorithms to solve problems and to understand the fundamental concepts of computer science. To receive a minor in computer science a student must successfully complete the following course of study:

Required Courses

CS 135 - Introduction to Computer Science Credit(s): 3
CS 208 - Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science Credit(s): 3
CS 235 - Introduction to Data Science Credit(s): 3
CS 308 - Theory of Computation Credit(s): 3
CS 337 - Algorithms and Data Structures Credit(s): 3

Two additional courses, one of which must bear a CS or IS prefix, selected from:

CS 342 - Artificial Intelligence Credit(s): 3
CS 360 - Topics in Computer Science Credit(s): 3 *
CS 430 - Computer Architecture Credit(s): 3
IS 221 - Programming Fundamentals Credit(s): 3
IS 321 - Systems Analysis and Design Credit(s): 3
IS 470 - Business Intelligence and Big Data Credit(s): 3
MA 420 - Mathematical Logic Credit(s): 3
MA 313 - Numerical Analysis Credit(s): 3
*CS 360 may be taken twice if the topics are different

Note:

Mathematics majors with a Data Science emphasis may not earn a Computer Science Minor.
