ED 303 - Literacy II: Teaching Methods in Elementary Writing

Writing Methods is a course that examines current methods and materials used in teaching school children to write. This course incorporates state and national standards for teaching writing. This includes applying knowledge or writing development and writing process for narrative, informational, and opinion writing. Pre-service teachers will learn to evaluate and identify good writing as well as build evidence-based practices and strategies in writing instruction that will support elementary-aged students in developing their skill, knowledge, processes, and language use for effective written communication for a range of purposes and audiences.
Prerequisite(s): ED 206 - Literacy I: Teaching Language Arts and Children’s Literature : A grade of “C-” or higher
