CH 131 - Accelerated General Chemistry Credit(s): 4 Designed for students majoring in the natural sciences, this course is an introductory survey of essential chemistry concepts covered at an accelerated pace. Topics include states of matter, substances, aqueous solutions, dimensional analysis, mass relations, chemical reactions, electron configurations, molecular structure, basic bonding theory, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and nuclear chemistry. The companion laboratory is designed to introduce students to laboratory safety, scientific observation, data recording, experimental planning, scientific writing, and fundamental chemical and instrumental techniques. Three hours lecture and three hours lab per week.
