CH 121 - General Chemistry I


Credit(s): 4
Designed for students majoring in the natural sciences, this course is an introductory survey of the essential chemistry concepts including states of matter, substances, aqueous solutions, dimensional analysis, mass relations, chemical reactions, electron configurations, and molecular structure. The companion laboratory is designed to introduce students to laboratory safety, scientific observation, data recording, experimental planning, scientific writing, and fundamental chemical and instrumental techniques. Three hours lecture and three hours lab per week. 

 
Prerequisite(s): One prerequisite must be completed from the list below:

  • ACT Math Score ≥ 22 
  • SAT Mathematics ≥ 540
  • Millikin Math Score (Compass) ≥3
  • MA 098  Grade ≥ C
  • MA 110   Grade ≥ D-
