NU 534 - Mental Health Nursing Credit(s): 8 This course will focus on the student integrating theoretical and clinical knowledge to design and provide care for clients with mental health problems across the lifespan. This course will focus on development of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care to individuals and groups with mental health problems across the lifespan. Students will apply intra-and inter-professional communication skills to develop leadership abilities. Students will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to manage the care environment within the micro-system. Development of the professional nursing role will be based on principles of communication, cultural and human diversity, critical thinking, and professional accountability, and will be demonstrated in the application of the nursing process.
